What We Do
On the first Wednesday each month come for morning tea at Te Takeretanga o Kura Hau Po and listen to our guest speaker. This is a free event and all are welcome.
Volunteers
Help with day to day activities in the libraries. Under the direction of library staff they are often to be found:
Returning books to shelves
Shelf tidying
Book processing new stock to strengthen and prepare it for library use
Book repair
Making deliveries of books to housebound library patrons
Assisting with the Annual Large Print Book appeal
Fundraising
This is an important part of what we do.
Sales of cancelled library book stock and other books donated by the public are our major fundraising source.
We hold two giant book sales. The first is the Great Summer Book Sale held in January each year and the second is in mid-winter.
One-off fundraising events are held from time to time.
